Batari BASIC has its own forum on AtariAge:

it's still very much an alive project, and really has done the most to
bring simple gamewriting and prototyping to the masses.

At one point i was working on a javascript player graphic and playfield editor.
The second version of the graphic editor was kind of nifty:

The player editor never had a similar update:

In general, I don't think all in one IDEs are as useful for something
as lowlevel as 2600 programming.
