It wouldn't matter if you could hit the joystick and tilde at the same 
time anyway, since all events are turned off when entering the 
debugger.  This ability will be present in the next release, since I've 
added a RIOT tab to the debugger.

As for the record feature, I'm working on it.  The very basic 
infrastructure is there, but it isn't exposed yet.  Basically what I'll 
be adding is movie recording and playback, which is a superset of what 
you need.  But this definitely won't be in the next release.  Maybe the 
one after that ...
